Police charge 21-year-old after drugs, weapon found at Gold Coast home

Police raid Labrador Gold Coast home for drugs, ammunition

POLICE have allegedly seized more than 100 grams of cocaine, knuckledusters, ammunition and performance drugs at a home on the Gold Coast on Thursday.

Detectives from Taskforce Maxima, State Crime Command charged a 21-year-old man with 21 offences after raiding an address on Marine Parade in Labrador.

Police will allege they found more than 100g of cocaine, knuckledusters, ammunition and liquids and tablets believed to be performance and image enhancing drugs.

Documents indicating the sale of dangerous drugs were also allegedly found.

The man’s charges include trafficking in dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs and the unlawful possession of a weapon and ammunition.

Detective Inspector Glen Donaldson of the Major and Organised Crime Squad said the public had tipped officers off to the property.

“The community plays a significant role in the proactive detection of drug suppliers and we commend the local community for their ongoing support of police and our work in keeping Queensland safe,” Detective Inspector Donaldson said.

“The Queensland Police Service recognises the harm caused by dangerous drugs within our community and continues to proactively target and disrupt criminal syndicates involved in the unlawful supply of dangerous drugs”.

The 21-year-old has been remanded in custody and is due in court tomorrow.
