A PIMPAMA mum has been left with a broken eye socket and a limp after a man allegedly broke into her house overnight, pinned her to the bed and assaulted her.

Stacey Gleeson, 32, was laying in bed with her two-year-old daughter around midnight, when she heard someone walking around downstairs.

“I thought it may have been my son so I checked his room and he was asleep,” she said.

“So I grabbed a knife from my top drawer and locked my kids in their bedrooms.

“When I went downstairs to look ... he was hiding behind one of the doors. He threw me onto the bed and punched me over and over.

“He also did something to my leg because I have a limp.

“He tried to steal the TV but he didn’t get it, he just ran out the front door.”

The mum-of-four said she called police to the scene on Benwerrin Street after her neighbours failed to help.

“All of the neighbours heard me screaming, but nobody called the police because they music have thought it was a domestic,” she said.

“I even went outside and screamed ‘help me’ and nobody came... because they don’t want to get involved.

“I was in so much shock... the police took his hand prints which he left on all the windows, but turns out he came in through the back sliding door.

“You never think this sort of thing could happen to you.”

Ms Gleeson said she saw someone walk past her house two weeks ago, in a hoodie, similar to the one worn by the home invader.

“I saw a guy walk past in a similar hoodie looking a bit suspicious but I didn’t think anything of it,” she said.

“I’m the only single woman on my street, guys target single mothers.

“I moved here two months ago with my kids and I thought it would be safe.

“I lied to them (the kids) and told them the man had been caught, so they weren’t worried about him still being out there.”

Police said officers and the dog squad attended the incident, but could not locate the man.

Investigations are continuing.
