A PIMPAMA man fired a gun six times into bushes on a Pimpama street, yelling that he was protecting the neighbourhood and threatening to shoot people, it is alleged.

Nathen James Craig allegedly threatened to kill police officers, “put lead in their chests” and get “SAS brothers to track down your family and kill them”.

He was on bail at the time.

Craig, 40, did not apply for bail when his matter was called in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.

He is charged with discharging a firearm, going armed to cause fear, dangerous conduct with a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, explosives, threats and breaching bail.

Police were called to Tuxworth Place, Pimpama just before 8pm on Sunday after residents allegedly saw a man firing into the bushes.

Police allege Craig fired six rounds and tried to convince neighbours they needed a machete for protection while he was hunting wild boar and rabbits.

Witnesses allegedly said he looked like a sniper as he moved through the street.

“I am protecting the street, if anyone doesn’t like it I’ll shoot them dead”, he allegedly yelled.

“Once you see red, you’re dead.”

Residents allegedly confronted Craig but after he started yelling, returned to their homes in fear.

When police arrived they searched the area and did not find anyone who had been injured.

Police arrested Craig and on the way to the watch-house he allegedly threatened to kill them.

“I’m going to put lead in your chests”, he allegedly said.

“I am going to get my SAS brothers to track down your family and kill them.”

Craig is also accused of telling police he was going to cut their “(expletive) heads off”.

The matter will return to court on March 14.
