It is alleged at 5.30pm police observed a Ford Ranger utility with stolen plates in Coombabah.
The car sped off from police and was tracked by Polair to an underground carpark in Station Street at Nerang with police using their vehicles to block the entrance.
The Ford Ranger drove straight into one of the police vehicles and rammed it, but the entry to the carpark remained blocked and the utility then reversed back and with three parked cars.
The driver fled on foot to a hotel where he broke a glass panel to gain entry into a room which was occupied by a woman.
The man has then stolen clothing from the hotel room and refused to let the woman leave.
He then fled on foot but was chased by police and arrested a short time later.
It will be further alleged the Ford Ranger was stolen on December 14 from Runaway Bay.
The 27-year-old was charged with one count each of burglary, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, depravation of liberty, unlicensed driving, fail to stop, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, fail to supply specimen of blood for analysis, and driving under the influence of liquor.
He will appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today, January 25.
