AFTER just weeks of being in the spotlight, the Mexican Hoon Cartel’s Facebook page has closed down.
A police spokesman said they had reported the page to Facebook, and it was soon removed.
It is unclear if the group were forced to take it down by Facebook, or if they removed it of their own volition.
However, their Instagram page is still accessible.
It comes just days after members of the group were arrested during a massive police crackdown on the so-called “cartel” and their alleged actvities.
Police have been investigating the recurring hooning in Gold Coast suburbs over the past few months.
It is alleged those arrested terrorised neighbourhoods with burnouts, which were then uploaded onto social media.
Yesterday, a 19-year-old woman was arrested in relation to the group, charged with grievous bodily harm, stalking, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and fail to remain at scene of traffic incident.

It is alleged she rammed another woman’s car and broke her back in the incident.
Lawyer for the alleged victim Shine Lawyer Amanda Gilmour said enough was enough of the groups concerning behaviour.
“One of our clients, who had her car rammed with her 18-month-old on board, is unlikely to regain feeling in her right foot,” she said.
“The impact of the ramming significantly injured her spine and now due to nerve compression she lives in constant pain with a dropped right foot.”
“Our client is only 30 years of age — she can no longer be the parent she wants to be to her three children because she was just going about her daily life when she came across these people who were out to start trouble. Even after she has the back surgery she needs, her doctors doubt that she will ever fully recover.”

“These reckless youngsters have no idea how much damage they are causing to people’s lives. “Our client and her family moved to Gilston for a peaceful lifestyle but now she suffers nightmares and has lived on edge wondering what could happen next.”
A 23-year-old has also been charged with a contravene court order and receiving stolen property, while another two men were arrested earlier this week on stealing charges and illegal possession of more than a dozen knives.
Residents fed-up with the group have lashed out, saying they have been frightened.
