A MERCEDES driver has been caught dangerously and ‘arrogantly’ cutting across a busy Gold Coast road on a Sunday.
Dashcam footage, timestamped at 10.39am on March 3, caught the driver illegally coming from a lane that only turned left and instead driving right into oncoming traffic on Nerang-Broadbeach Road at Carrara.
The driver can be seen cutting through the intersection despite the oncoming lanes still having a green light before veering back onto the correct side of the road.
The “arrogant” move has left resident Ian Barber stunned, saying the driver, who appeared to be male, was lucky to not have caused a crash.
“I saw the car coming from the left side, I thought that was strange, then saw him just drive through the traffic,” he said.
“There was still traffic coming from the left … he just merged into traffic. I find it wrong and very dangerous.
“It’s just disgraceful to see someone do that. It’s just pure arrogance.”
Later, Mr Barber caught up with the alleged dangerous driver when they stopped at lights turning into Bermuda Street a few minutes later.
He said the driver appeared to have a younger passenger next to him.
Mr Barber said he had never seen an incident like it before in the area.
A police complaint into the incident has not been filed.
