Maudsland manhunt: Notorious criminal Brendan Berichon remains on run in bushfires in Coast hinterland
A notorious criminal who rose to fame as the offsider to “Postcard Bandit” Brenden Abbott remains at large in the fire-ravaged Gold Coast Hinterland after running from police today.

A NOTORIOUS criminal who rose to fame as the offsider to “Postcard Bandit” Brenden Abbott remains at large in the Gold Coast Hinterland after running from police today.
Convicted bank robber Brendan Luke Berichon is believed to be on the run in bushland in Maudsland, which is has been ravaged by bushfires the past two days.
The 41-year-old is allegedly wanted for domestic violence offences, however when police went to visit him at his Pacific Pines home he could not be located.
MAUDSLAND BUSHFIRE EXPECTED TO BURN FOR DAYS
It is understood he fled into the bushland, putting a halt to firefighting efforts for the Maudsland blaze.
Police dog squad and PolAir are currently working through the night to track down the convicted criminal.
Berichon earned notoriety after assisting in the escape of “Postcard Bandit” Brenden Abbott from Wacol prison in 1997 before the pair went on an eight month crime spree where they robbed a number of banks across Australia.

He served five years for his role in the breakout and in 1999 was sentenced to 13 years’ jail after shooting and wounding two police officers while on the run.
In 2011 Berichon was jailed for four years for a foiled retaliation attack over a drug deal gone wrong.
It is understood he had been living on the Gold Coast since his release.
