Men charged over critical alleged assault
A man is fighting for life after suffering serious head injuries when a fight broke out on a Gold Coast street.

POLICE have charged two men over an alleged assault which left a young man fighting for his life in hospital.
A 21-year-old suffered NSW man suffered critical head injuries after he was alleged to have been involved in a fight at Broadbeach around 2.40am Saturday morning.
Police were called to the corner of Margaret St and Surf Ave after the argument allegedly turned violent.
Two 19-year old men were charged with affray Saturday afternoon after police interviewed a large number of witnesses and those involved in the disturbance.
A police spokesman said around “six or seven” men and women were believed to be involved.
Both men charged have been denied bail and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court Monday morning, December 2.
The 21-year-old was the only person seriously injured.

Police will allege the group had followed the man before he was punched, causing him to fall and hit his head.
He was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition with help from a Queensland Ambulance Service critical care paramedic and the High Acuity Response Unit.
He remains in hospital.
The spokesman said the incident did not appear to be Schoolies-related.
