A police car has been rammed on a quiet residential street on the Gold Coast, but officers said it’s unclear why the driver lashed out.

A MAN is in custody after ramming a police car on the Gold Coast.

Police said it is unclear why the man drove into the police vehicle with a late-model Holden in Central St at Labrador just before 4pm today.

The driver slammed into the car before trying to run on foot from the scene.

The two police officers involved were not injured and were able to chase the man down and arrest him a short distance away.

A police spokesman told the Bulletin the man was allegedly carrying drugs when he was caught.

He was being held at the Southport Watchhouse on Wednesday evening with charges expected to be laid.
