Jamie Marijan Duksic allegedly rammed cop to flee from Gold Coast petrol station

A man has been charged with a number of alleged offences after a police officer was hit by a car at a Gold Coast petrol station.

THE Labrador man accused of ramming a police officer while trying to flee from a Gold Coast petrol station chose not to appear in court this morning when his matter was heard.

Jamie Marijan Duksic instead stayed in the Southport Watchhouse as the matter was briefly heard in the Southport Magistrates Court.

Duksic did not apply for bail.

The 52-year-old is accused of trying to steal fuel from a petrol station on Frank St, Labrador last Thursday night.

Patrolling police spotted staff from the petrol station allegedly trying to stop Duksic from driving away in a silver Toyota Aurion with stolen Queensland registration plates.

Police allege Duksic accelerated towards the 28-year-old male constable, who had got out of his car to intervene, pinning him between both vehicles.

The officer is still recovering from an alleged fracture to his shoulder, knee and leg injuries and soft tissue damage.

The car allegedly left the scene.

Duksic is charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving of motor vehicle without a driver's licence, unregistered vehicle, uninsured vehicle, receiving tainted property, fraud — making off without paying, two counts each of fail to comply with duties of driver involved in a crash and give the driver’s required particulars to any other driver.

The matter will next appear in court on September 10.
