Man bitten by police dog after ramming cop car in Gilston, Gold Coast

A man is in hospital after being been bitten by a police dog following an alleged ramming of a police car.

A MAN is in hospital after being been bitten by a police dog following an alleged ramming involving a police car.

Just before midday a car was reported stolen from Ashmore.

Police monitored the stolen car before attempting to arrest the driver about 1.30pm along Gilston Road in Gilston.

However, the driver allegedly rammed a police car with the stolen car.

The man was subdued after receiving a bite from a police dog.

He taken to hospital after sustaining the injury.

A female was later arrested in Palm Beach and was remanded in custody.

It’s understood the woman was in the stolen car before being dropped off earlier in the day.

A 31-year-old Carrara man will face Southport Court today charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle, evasion offence, driving of motor vehicle without licence, possess DD, possess utensil, unlawfully possess suspected stolen property and multiple fraud offences.

A 37-year-old Ashmore man, who was bitten by the dog, has been given a notice to appear for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade police and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He will appear in Southport Magistrates Court next month.

A police spokeswoman said a 26-year-old Helensvale woman is yet to be charged but investigations are on going.
