A MAN who refused to give police officers his iPhone’s pin code because he did not want them to see his conversations with a lawyer has been found guilty of contravening a police order.

Magistrate Mark Howden announced the guilty verdict for Harley Barbaro, who is the brother of slain Sydney underworld boss Pasquale, in the Southport Magistrates Court today.

A trial for the charge was held last week which heard Barbaro had outstanding matters before the court when his Bundall home was searched by police officers last year.

He refused to give them his phone’s password because he did not want them to see his

conversations with lawyer Campbell MacCallum.

Mr Howden said wanting to keep the messages between the pair a secret was not a “reasonable excuse” to contravene the order.

Barbaro will be sentenced at a later date.

The 26-year-old came to prominence after being the first person to challenge the State Government’s new consorting laws after he was found not guilty earlier this year of consorting.
