Magistrate Donald MacKenzie slammed Tippet for failing to be a good role model.

“Particularly with young men and seeing they can have the body that you have and thinking they can have a body like you by using steroids,” he said.

Mr MacKenzie said Tippet could have bulked up in a legal way such as eating “honey and banana sandwiches”.

He said it was “idiotic” that Tippet would be risking his body considering he had a serious heart issue about five years ago.

The court heard this morning Tippet was found with the drugs in his car when, after an anonymous tip, police pulled him over in Tewantin on the Sunshine Coast about 11.45am on November 27 last year.

Police also found Tippet hiding a syringe and needle in his underwear after he was seen “favouring his groin area”.

He said they found a syringe and needle in his underwear and a vial of liquid steroid originally developed to treat asthma.

A search found more than 250 tablets of four different types of steroids as well as testosterone in liquid form.

Defence lawyer Michael Burrows, of Nyst Legal, told the court a medical examination found Tippet had muscle dysmorphia, a disorder which people obsess about being underdeveloped, which had led to his use of steroids.
