A GOLD Coast police prosecutor and former Miss Indy model was so infatuated with her boyfriend that she abused her position to help him, a judge has found.

Rosanna Felicity Doolan pleaded guilty in Brisbane District Court this morning to one count of abuse of public office and one count of abuse of office for personal gain.

She had been due to face a retrial today.

In May last year a jury found her guilty of more serious misconduct charges, and she spent a little over four months in pre-sentence custody.

In September last year she was granted a retrial after a successful appeal.

Judge Kiernan Dorney said Doolan’s crimes were linked to her addiction to alcohol. He suppressed the details of a psychiatric report tendered to the court.

The court was today played an audio recording of Doolan in Southport court in May 2012, when she reopened a sentence and lied to a magistrate in order to gain a reduced penalty for her then boyfriend Dax Roep.

Roep had been charged with assault after a road rage incident in which he allegedly slapped a woman across the face on September 5, 2011.

Doolan lied to the magistrate, telling her the prosecutor who had been running the case was unable to be present at the reopened hearing and had no issue with a prior prosecutor representing the matter.

The prosecutor alerted superiors to Doolan’s actions when he discovered what she had done, the court was told.

Doolan was immediately sent home.

Doolan’s barrister told the court she “idealised” Roep.

“In addition to the damage to her reputation ..... it has also exposed her to public humiliation,” Doolan’s barrister told the court.

Judge Dorney sentenced her to a 10 months’ and six months’ jail respectively, both wholly suspended. She was free to walk from court this afternoon.
