RESIDENTS of a Gold Coast suburb have been threatened by hoons after confronting them about their dangerous antics.
Ormeau Hills locals say their area is being turned into a “racetrack” and have urged police to crack down on the problem before someone loses their life.
Local resident Ashley Chiverton said she was so frustrated she confronted the hoons herself – was threatened with violence.
“I confronted them once when my kids where trying to sleep and they come rushing towards me ready to fight,” she said.
“I’m female and they are males.
“My old neighbour in his 60s confronted them too and they abused him.
“They have no care.”
COOMERA RESIDENTS FEAR HOONS COULD KILL A CHILD
MOLENDINAR RESIDENT’S ANGRY MESSAGE TO HOONS
Another resident, Mark Braidwood, said River Run Circuit at Ormeau Hills was a favourite spot for the hoons, who use the roundabouts to skid and drift at dangerously high speeds.
He said locals wanted CCTV set up in the area and a greater police presence to stop the “increasing issue” before someone is hurt or killed.
“They (hoons) are pushing the boundaries of what they can control,” he said.
“Effectively sliding, spinning, skidding is putting your car in a situation most people try and avoid as it means they’re not in control.
“It is definitely dangerous for all and it becoming an increasing issue.”

Mr Braidwood said it was happening on a weekly basis in the area, often in the middle of the night.
Upper Coomera local Peter Rowswell said hooning had become a major issue in the northern suburbs and it was only a matter of time before a serious crash happened.
“In Upper Coomera the roundabouts are skid parks,” he said.
“It’s horrific and scary when you live next to these roundabouts.”
Police advice to phone triple-0 if the hooning is currently taking place or call Policelink on 134 666 (13HOON) to report information.
