A Hells Angels bikie charged with possessing four knives, two knuckledusters and three valium tablets was fined $500 yesterday.

The Southport Magistrates Court was told that at 10.10pm on November 3 police pulled over a car driven by Samuel King, 41, in Ferny Ave, Surfers Paradise.

They discovered a number of knives and knuckledusters, and three diazepam tablets.

The Gold Coaster admitted to being a Hells Angel, as well as owning most of the weapons but claimed the drugs and a knuckleduster hidden in the sunroof of the car did not belong to him.

King’s solicitor, Carl Edwards, provided the court with an affidavit from the bikie’s partner who said the drugs were hers and she had a prescription for the tablets.

The court was told King had only purchased the black BMW days before he was intercepted by police and claimed the knuckleduster in the sunroof must have belonged to a previous owner.

Mr Edwards said the only significant entry in his client’s criminal history was a sentence of eight years’ imprisonment in NSW in 2007 on a manslaughter charge.

Magistrate Michael Hogan said he found it a “little hard to believe” King had no idea about the knuckleduster. He took into account King had spent six days in custody on remand but did record a conviction.

King is yet to appear in the Queensland Supreme Court on drug and weapons charges relating to an arrest at Q1 earlier this year.
