REPORTS of multiple gun shots are being investigated by police after they were heard in the early hours of the morning.

Residents have reported hearing gun shots at Varsity Lakes.

Varsity Lakes residents say they were woken to the sound of a gun firing and a car speeding away at around 4am.

“I was asleep and woke up to hear two shots, they were definitely gun shots,” a resident told the Bulletin.

“My partner was awake at the time and said he counted around eight.”

“Five minutes later we heard a v8 drive down the street.”

The witnesses say the neighbourhood is usually quiet.

“It isn’t something that happens around here,” a resident said.

Detectives from Queensland Police have also been doorknocking the area for further information this morning.

QPS are unable to release any further information on the matter at this stage.
