JURORS have delivered a guilty verdict in a rape case involving the son of a well-known Gold Coast surfing identity.
Nathan Teece, 31, was sentenced to seven years’ jail after being charged with one count of rape following an incident on February 13 in 2016.
Teece, the son of surfing identity Terry “Tappa” Teece, appeared in court today and sat quietly in the dock before the jury retired to consider its verdict.
The court heard the female victim woke up to feel the weight of a man on top of her and realised he was “inside” her, before screaming out to her husband for help.
The court heard the husband then entered the room to find the pair inside, before Teece hid himself inside a walk-in wardrobe and held the door shut.
The court was told Teece was heard to say, “what have I done”, immediately after the incident.
The court heard DNA swabs from the alleged victim and her clothing did not have Teece’s DNA on them.
