Gold Coast police apply to extradite Tweed man over alleged sexual assaults

Gold Coast police are applying to extradite a man from New South Wales after he allegedly sexually assaulted multiple women this month.

How do juries decide a verdict?

A MAN has been arrested in Tweed Heads today following the alleged sexual assaults of two women on the southern Gold Coast this month.

Gold Coast detectives will tomorrow apply to extradite the 22-year-old Bilambil Heights Man, who was arrested by New South Wales police earlier today.

It’s alleged around 8am on December 10 a 26-year-old woman was walking along the footpath on Pacific Parade in Bilinga when she was sexually assaulted by a man she didn’t know.

The woman screamed and the man ran away along Mills Street.

It’s also alleged around 7am on December 17 a 27-year-old woman was walking her dog towards her car on Miles Street, Kirra when she too was sexually assaulted by a man unknown to her.

She managed to push him off before he fled along Musgrave Street.

Both incidents were reported to police yesterday.

The man is now scheduled to appear in Tweed Heads Magistrates Court tomorrow, where Gold Coast detectives will apply for his extradition to the Coast.

Police are appealing anyone who may have been assaulted in the Bilinga or Coolangatta areas over the past two months to come forward.

Investigations continue.
