A GOLD Coast mother has confronted the Surfers Paradise ‘nang dealer’ she believes supplied her son with drugs that have left him with symptoms of dementia.

Currumbin woman Meg Sartor, 42, said her teenage son, 19, was fired from his construction job last week after inhaling up to 300 ‘nangs’ a week.

Also known as bulbs or whippets, the small whipped cream canisters dispense nitrous oxide, producing 15 to 20-second bursts of euphoria.

Although nangs can cause brain damage, paralysis and heart problems, suppliers are exploiting a legal grey area that means the addictive drug is completely legal to distribute.

And Ms Sartor says one Surfers Paradise dealer, billed as the ‘Gold Coast’s only 24-hour nang delivery service’ in a story published today, is the man behind her son’s downward spiral.

“About three months ago I found these cylinders in his room and I thought he might be using them to throw onto the fire the way kids do with deodorant, that’s how naive I am,” she said.

“A week ago he lost his construction job and talking to him was like dealing with someone with dementia.

“He was taking 300 to 400 of these every week and throwing away hundreds of dollars.

“I’m sure he has permanent brain damage now, I have no doubt there will be long term effects.”

With a scarf barely covering his face when speaking to news outlet VICE yesterday, the Surfers Paradise nang dealer claimed to have sold thousands of whipped cream chargers on the Gold Coast.

After coming across the video on Facebook in the early hours of the morning, Ms Sartor recognised the website on his screen (picture below), and decided to confront him today.

“I broke into his house and went off at him,” she said.

“He’s a little weedy guy cashing in on vulnerable people and he’s proud of it.

“Plus if there’s a fire in that place where he keeps thousands of these things — kaboom — there goes the whole apartment block.

“I will protect my four kids until they take their last breath. I would happily go to jail to take down a kingpin.”

Ms Sartor said it was “frustrating” as a parent watching her son self-destruct at the hands of a legal drug.

“Woolworths and Coles have a four-tin limit on baby powder but you can buy 300 units of something to get high on,” she said.

“I’m watching my son self-destruct to a legal drug. Not only is it ruining my child’s life, I can’t imagine how many other parents are out there feeling the same way.”

Ms Sartor said her son had been missing since Saturday.
