POLICE could be powerless to stop a Gold Coast man who has openly claimed to have delivered thousands of nitrous oxide canisters to Schoolies and Glitter Strip revellers so they could get high.

In a story published yesterday the man was billed as the “Gold Coast’s only 24-hour nang delivery service”.

With a scarf barely covering his face, the man claimed to have sold thousands of whipped cream chargers on the Gold Coast giving users a euphoric high when inhaled.

“Schoolies Week was massive for us,” the man said in a video posted on the media website Vice.

“The Gold Coast is pretty much a city that’s been manufactured as a playground for adults ... it’s a party city.”

But the Australian Alcohol and Drug Foundation warns long term use of the canisters — dubbed ‘nangs’ — can result in memory loss, psychosis, incontinence and even death.

Another long term side effect of inhaling the gas from cylinders known as a “nangs” is Vitamin B12 depletion, which can cause brain and nerve damage.

The man in the video, filmed riding a motorcycle through the Gold Coast, said he planned to sell the canisters wholesale.

He suggested some Australians are making millions of dollars by selling the canisters.

“I wouldn’t be Australia’s first nang millionaire,” he said.

According to Queensland Police Service fact sheets, it is not an offence to possess nitrous oxide even for the purpose of misuse.

It has been reported that in NSW, Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory it is an offence to supply them for misuse.

The Queensland Police Service said selling nitrous oxide canisters is not illegal.
