A GOLD Coast nurse is fighting for her life after she was found unconscious with life-threatening injuries on a northern Gold Coast driveway last night.

A person was passing by a unit complex on Arundel’s Callistemon Court when they noticed the woman laying on the driveway.

Police say the 37-year-old woman had “an unexplained life-threatening head injury”.

Emergency services arrived at the scene about 6.45pm and transported the woman to Gold

Police are investigating how the woman had got the injuries and are expected to hold a media conference later today.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said police have no idea how the head injuries occurred and are calling on anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to come toward.

“We are at a loss of how the injuries occurred,”he said.

“She had significant head injuries but they are not visible. Visibility looking at her you can’t see them.

“We are hoping someone driving past Olsen avenue may have dashcam footage.”

Detectives are on scene at the moment and area speaking to neighbours.

“There is nothing to suggest what has happened,” he said.

“It would appear she was a single woman living on her own inside her mothers premises who had passed away.

“She was in the process of packing up the home.

“She was about to commence work in Far North Queensland and was in the process of packing to leave.”

The woman remains in hospital in a critical condition.

There was no signs of a home invasion, or unknown of how long she lived in the Arundel home for.

The only other injury the woman has is a “small abrasion” to her arm but Detective Inspector Smith said it was expected as she had fallen on the driveway.

The 37-year-old nurse at Gold Coast University hospital was “quiet and kept to herself” according to a neighbour who lived nearby.

The neighbour told the Bulletin she had just spoken to the woman yesterday before the incident occurred.

“I had the aircon on high it was so loud I couldn’t hear anything, I only found out something happened when the police knocked on my door”.

It is understood she lived alone after her mother had recently passed away.

Another neighbour who worked with her at GCUH said she found her “unresponsive” on the driveway.

Neighbours told the Bulletin lived in an quiet part of the neighbourhood and were shocked to hear of the incident.

The Gold Coast University Hospital has put out a statement on the injury of the popular nurse.

It is understood staff caring for the nurse at this time had worked alongside her.

“We have been shocked and saddened by the news that a member of our nursing staff has

been critically injured in an incident at her place of residence overnight,” a spokeswoman for the hospital said.

“This is obviously a very difficult time for staff, particularly those in our Emergency

Department and Intensive Care Unit, who are coming to terms with this news and who are

currently providing medical care to their colleague.”

“It is always confronting for our staff when one of their colleagues and friends is hurt or

unwell, and we understand this event will touch many staff members across the health

service.”

“Our focus now is to do everything possible to support our staff as they come to

terms with what has occurred.”

Detectives are asking for dashcam vision taken in Callistemon Court and near Olsen Road.
