Armed robbery at Currumbin Valley on the Gold Coast

Police have released CCTV vision of a person allegedly wielding a gun during a terrifying robbery at a Gold Coast bottle shop.

The armed thief allegedly entered the Currumbin Waters BWS shop on February 11 wearing a balaclava and held a gun to staff, demanding money and cigarettes.

Police were called to the bottle shop on Bienvenue Drive just after 7.30pm but the thief had fled the scene in a small white car.

Police are unsure if the offender is a man or a woman.

At first, police believed it was a man who robbed the store, but now say it is unclear after reviewing CCTV footage.

The person is described as caucasian and about 170cm tall and was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava.

Police are investigating.
