A WOMAN has recounted the terrifying moment a baseball bat-wielding man tried to carjack her in the driveway of her home.

Three men were allegedly in the middle of a frenzied crime spree in Broadbeach that saw them rob a woman of her mobile phone and her handbag and then attempted to steal the Porsche in the driveway, before stealing a mans BMW, all within the space of 20 minutes.

Police said the trio, driving a Ford Falcon sedan, approached a woman on the corner of Australia Ave and Jubilee Ave at 10.15pm on Wednesday night, with a man threatening her with the bat before she handed over her handbag and mobile phone.

The trio are described as being in their late teens or early 20s, with thin builds. They were wearing black clothing at the time.

Just five minutes later the men allegedly struck again, where they threatened the second woman and demanded the keys to her Porsche in the driveway of a Waitomo St home.

The woman fought back and drove away, asked not to be named out of fear of a reprisal attack.

She told the Bulletin she was returning home after taking donations to a Lifeline bin, when she noticed a car driving without lights on in front of her.

“They followed me into my driveway, I’ve got an electric gate and they’ve pushed it open, one of the guys had a baseball bat,” the woman said.

“He was threatening my life, while pointing the bat at me, he was saying he wanted my keys, so I jumped back in my car.

“He was screaming at me.

“He freaked out when I jumped into the car and put it in reverse.

“There was a guy in the drivers seat and the guy jumped into the back seat.

”I reversed back to where he was and chased them to try and catch them, while calling police.

“It was full on, I’m worried they’re going to come back.”

She said it felt like she was in the middle of a home invasion.

“I thought it was a home invasion, I thought ‘nah I’m not giving you my keys’, it was scary, I’m glad I hopped back into the car.

“The last thing I wanted to do was give them the keys so they could come into the house and rob the house, I had no idea what they were doing, I thought I was in the middle of home invasion.

“It all happened so fast, he was saying he was going to bash me, it was terrifying.

“I was in escape mode.”

The victim said she wished she could have got to the door to let out her guard dog.

“I’ve got a rottweiler inside and I was thinking, ‘how do I get to the door and let him out’, but I couldn’t get to the door fast enough.

“He is a great security dog, but he was inside.

“I don’t even know, they could have killed my dog.”

The trio of men are believed to be in their late teens or early 20s.
