FORMER Gold Coast criminal lawyer Briana Ioannides has a new gig, it has been revealed during a guilty plea which saw her released from custody today.

The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a motor vehicle, receiving tainted property and breaching a bail condition in the Southport Magistrates Court.

Ioannides was caught with the keys to a stolen vehicle which was full of her belongings at a Bunnings last week, the court heard.

The Ford Focus had a stolen numberplate fixed to its rear.

Ioannides admitted to sitting in the car and using it unlawfully.

Defence lawyer Chris Hannay, of Hannay Lawyers, said his client should have known better.

Mr Hannay said Ioannides now had a job as an account manager with construction firm Ideal Group.

“The job is a good thing for her to get out of the spiralling she had experienced for some years,” Mr Hannay said.

Ioannides is a former solicitor who has faced a number of drugs and weapons charges since 2015.

Magistrate Mark Howden declared the eight days Ioannides had spent behind bars as time already served and fined her $750.
