Firefighters battle Biggera Waters factory fire

OWNERS from Biggera Waters businesses turned up to work feeling ‘sick’ this morning when realising the severe damage a mammoth blaze caused last night.

OWNERS from Biggera Waters businesses turned up to work feeling ‘sick’ this morning when realising the severe damage a mammoth blaze caused last night.

The flames could be seen from kilometres away and took five hours for firefighters to contain.

It’s left one pool business gutted with the doors melted and the roof caved in.

Fire investigators aren’t able to get inside due to the severe structural damage.

A cherry picker is being brought to the scene just off Brisbane Road to assess the building through the roof.

Surrounding businesses have also suffered damages however it is not known yet how extensive.

The blaze was so intense it melted the metal roller doors on the building.

Emergency services were called to the blaze about 6.15pm last night after multiple calls of flames and smoke.

Several crews responded to find an upholstery business off Brisbane Rd well alight.

It took crews about 45 minutes to control the blaze and the scene was guarded overnight before investigators return this morning..

A lane of traffic was closed for about half an hour earlier in the evening, causing long delays in the area.

It is believed some neighbouring businesses may have suffered water and smoke damage.
