UPDATE: THE parents of murdered Coomera man Mark “Zeb” Spencer are pleading with the public to help catch their son’s killer.
Mr Spencer was found dead on his back porch on Foxwell Rd by his housemate on Wednesday morning.
Julie and Peter Spencer travelled from Nowra, on the NSW south coast, to meet with detectives and make an emotional plea for information this afternoon.
“We’ve come a long way up here to hopefully see a resolve and take our boy home,” Peter Spencer said.
“Any snippet of information no matter how small could maybe help.”
MAN FOUND DEAD ON BACK VERANDA WITH HEAD INJURIES
Julie Spencer said her son was no saint but “never hurt anyone”.
Mr Spencer’s parents last spoke to him a few weeks ago on his 37th birthday.
Investigations continue and police expect to remain at the Foxwell property until Wednesday.
Detective David Hutchinson said police still had no suspect.
Investigators are seeking CCTV footage from anyone who lives in Coomera Waters or on Foxwell Rd at Coomera which may have captured vehicle or pedestrian movements between midnight and 4am on Wednesday.
Mr Spencer’s parents’ plea follows his housemate speaking out about the chilling moment he discovered his housemate’s body on the back porch.
Daniel McNally told police he locked eyes with the person who killed his housemate — father-of-two Mark “Zeb” Spencer.
“I ran out the door and looked straight through his bedroom and saw a guy in a balaclava with what looked like a metal pole, beating my mate.”
“My housemate was calling out to me.
“The last thing I heard was a scream, then nothing.”
For 15 minutes, Mr McNally said he tried desperately to revive his best mate of seven years, but his head injuries were just too severe.
“[I] got him over on his back and then started pumping his heart for him, there was nothing.
“I’m going to miss him. I think everyone’s going to miss him.”
Mr Spencer was known to police for a string of offences but it appears the 37-year-old cleaned up his act and last faced court six years ago.
Police are remaining tight-lipped about the investigation as they continue to hunt for the killer.
Forensic police yesterday continued to scour the rural property on Foxwell Rd for clues.
Detective Superintendent David Hutchinson said police were trying to gather as much information as possible to determine the cause of Mr Spencer’s death.
