THE bikie scourge is tightening its stranglehold on the Glitter Strip amid revelations a major gang has returned from the grave.

Comancheros gangsters have resurfaced on the Gold Coast for the first time in two decades in the wake of Labor’s plans to scrap tough anti-association laws.

The changes will be introduced by August and could be passed by the end of the year.

Senior police sources say five Comancheros members, who have a headquarters in NSW, were seen roaming through Burleigh Heads in full gang colours earlier this week.

“They’ll just shoot you – they’re not concerned about the laws, they just don’t care,” the source said.

Labor was warned by the state’s Crime and Corruption Commission in a secret email that the Comancheros may return to the Gold Coast if VLAD laws were abolished or weakened.

“The Comanchero do not have a presence in Queensland but have long considered establishing a chapter,” said the letter, secretly submitted in 2014 to a taskforce reviewing the laws.

“The allegiance between Comanchero and Finks has ended in recent times, but it was considered that the allegiance was to give each a larger share and support for each other in case of coming into conflict with other clubs.”

They are known for the military-style leadership of their founder, Jock Ross, as well as being an enemy of the Bandidos, against whom they went to war with in the horrific Milperra Massacre (Father’s Day Massacre) in September 1984, which killed seven people and left 28 injured.

They were also behind the 2009 Sydney Airport brawl in which a rival bikie was stabbed and bludgeoned to death.

The Coast, known as a cash-cow for organised crime, is drawing bikies back now that they can group in public again.

“There’s a market here for drug dealers and they know that,” the police source said.

It comes as shots were fired yesterday morning at a house in Mermaid Waters where a Nomad bikie lived. It is understood it was a warning shot over to a drug debt.

The Comancheros have previously had ties to terrorist groups and are known for gun-running and heroin trafficking.

The news has infuriated Surfers Paradise MP John-Paul Langbroek who was a key backer of the VLAD laws.

“Criminals are always looking for ways to get around laws and now they’ve found one,” he said.
