A GOLD COAST cosmetics party got so out of hand a part-time dancer bit the host on the lip, drawing blood and leaving a scar, a court was told.

Ashden Danielle Chase Hollier laughed and smiled as she walked from Southport Magistrates Court after being fined $1800.

The 22-year-old pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court today to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.

No conviction was recorded.

The court was told Hollier was at the cosmetics party with family in Mudgeeraba on May 27 when the host heard a dropping sound from the kitchen where Hollier was.

A cosmetics party, similar to a Tupperware party, is held in the host’s home so people can view, sample and purchase make-up.

After the dropping sound in the kitchen the host placed Hollier in a bear hug.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Nillan Lynch said Hollier then turned and bit the woman on the lip, drawing blood.

The court was told the bite was “instinctive” after Hollier was restrained.

Sgt Lynch said it was an “act of gratuitous violence”.

“She seems to have become intoxicated and her behaviour has escalated for some reason,” she said.

Magistrate Mark Howden said the matter was serious.

“It’s a very aggressive way to behave at a Tupperware party, or make-up party, or whatever it was,” he said.

Mr Howden said the host was obviously concerned about Hollier’s behaviour when she put her in a bear hug.

He said nothing excused the bite.

“That is a very dangerous thing to do,” he said.

“It will leave a scar but it also means the person who was bitten has a fear that potentially you could have transmitted a disease you might have to her.”

The court was told Hollier estimated she drank about a bottle of wine at the cosmetics party and did not remember much.

Hollier works part-time as a dancer and recently gained a full-time job as a delivery driver.

Mr Howden said he considered community service but given Hollier worked two jobs it was not feasible.
