Alleged leader of the Mexican Hoon Cartel arrested by police at his workplace

THE man police allege to be the leader of the so-called Mexican Hoon Cartel has been arrested and charged by police at his workplace this afternoon.

UPDATE: Police have now charged a 21-year-old Varsity Lakes man with one count each of improper use of emergency call service, unlawful stalking, wilfully making unnecessary noise or smoke and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

EARLIER: THE man police allege to be the leader of the so-called Mexican Hoon Cartel has been arrested by police at his workplace this afternoon.

Police arrested the 21-year-old man during his shift at Bunnings Warehouse in Burleigh Heads.

It’s been a tumultuous fortnight for the alleged Cartel, who have seen their members homes raided, been arrested at work and had knives and tyres seized by the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol group.

The Gold Coast Bulletin revealed last week a young mother had her back broken in an alleged ramming attack by a female member of the Mexican Hoon Cartel.

So heavy was the pressure by police the group’s 15,000 strong Facebook page folded, only to be reincarnated this week, with a meagre following, although the Bulletin understands police will get the new page, and Instagram pages, shutdown.

Officers had already seized four cars from members of the group over the past month, before they launched the action on August 14, when they raided two homes in Gilston, arresting two men allegedly involved in the group.

The following day, police swooped on a home in Robina arresting a man, charging him with allegedly stealing tyres.

Police then arrested another woman at her workplace, charging her with grievous bodily harm, stalking and dangerous operation, after the alleged ramming.
