A GOLD Coast man has allegedly been caught driving nearly four times over the legal drinking limit after smashing his car into a guardrail.
The Elanora man, 20, lost control of the car on the Gold Coast Highway at Tallebudgera around 11.15pm last night, colliding with the guardrail.
Body-worn police footage shows the man taking a breath test before being led to a police vehicle.
The man, who was not injured, allegedly recorded a breath alcohol level of 0.197.

Police also allegedly discovered a container of cannabis in the car when they searched the vehicle.
The man has since been charged with driving under the influence of liquor and possession of a dangerous drug.
He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on May 15.
The incident comes as Queensland Police step up their activities on Gold Coast roads as part of their Easter road safety campaign.

Commissioner Ian Stewart said research had shown that a high police presence on major road networks during peak holiday periods provided community reassurance and also served as a deterrent to those engaging in high-risk behaviour.
“Officers will be out in force conducting roadside testing for drugs and alcohol, as well as covert and overt speed enforcement in high-risk zones,” Commissioner Stewart said.
“until April 26, anyone travelling on the state’s highways can expect to encounter police.”
