A PRESTIGIOUS Gold Coast school was thrown into lock down this morning following an anonymous threat.

A spokeswoman from the school confirmed it was a threat made by email but she did not confirm the nature of the threat.

“It wasn’t made to student, teacher or principal,” she said.

She said police were called immediately to review the threat and it was deemed not serious.

The spokeswoman said the drama was over within 10 minutes however the parent said he was unable to enter the school at 8.30am.

AB Paterson College principal Brian Grimes later released a statement saying ‘this morning, I acted promptly on receiving an anonymous threat against our College and our campus was put in lockdown’.

“This was done, as the College’s first priority is always the safety of its students, staff and parents,” he said.

“The situation was quickly resolved when police found the threat to be not credible.

“Our students and staff were safe at all times, and the lockdown was lifted within minutes of police arriving on campus.”

This comes a day after a school North of Brisbane was locked down after shooting threats were made online.

AB Paterson College is hosting the first day of the Da Vinci Decathlon — a major annual academic competition today.

However, it has closed the school off to media because of the threat.

More than 1500 students from 55 state and independent schools across Queensland will be competing over the three days in 10 events.

A.B. Paterson College hosts the State Titles, which students can win their way through to the National Titles at Knox Grammar in Sydney.
