A GOLD Coast strongman allegedly wrongly claimed in court he was an army sniper who served overseas.
A hulking Ian Ronald Crowden, 39, fronted the Brisbane Magistrates Court in custody yesterday after he was arrested and charged with attempting to pervert justice and for falsely representing to be a returned soldier during a court hearing last year.
Crowden allegedly falsely claimed he had served in Afghanistan, Iraq and Timor when he fronted Southport Magistrates Court after kicking a sniffer dog at Gold Coast Airport in May.
He claimed the animal cruelty charge levelled at him was due to a severe fear of dogs, resulting from an attack on him as a teen.
The court was told he was picking up his daughter from the airport when he was approached by a female sniffer dog.
"Get that f***ing dog away from me," he admitted telling Australian Federal Police officers.
Crowden then lashed out at the dog, kicking it in the side.
He was fined $1000.
Prosecutor Senior Sergeant Mark Gorton told Magistrate Christine Roney the accused made false representations to the court in Southport that he had served with the Army.
An application for bail was not opposed.
Crowden's girlfriend waited outside the Brisbane City watch house for him.
The matter will return to court on February 2.
