28-year-old man charged with dangerous driving after allegedly ramming police with stolen car in Coomera area

A DRAMATIC police chase in which motorists were allegedly rammed has ended with a man being arrested and charged on the Gold Coast last night.

A DRAMATIC police chase in which police cars and other motorists were rammed has ended with a Coomera man being arrested and charged on the Gold Coast last night.

At around 7.30pm police saw a Commodore which had been reported stolen earlier that evening being driven by a man near Caz Court in Coomera.

The car allegedly evaded officers before speeding towards a Dog Squad vehicle stopped on Turnbull Drive, veering around it and colliding with a nearby Toyota Corolla containing two people inside.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

A short time later three police vehicles surrounded the stolen vehicle on Abraham’s Road and the car allegedly accelerated and collided with all three units, causing major damage to one of the vehicles.

The stolen car then travelled northbound onto the Pacific Motorway and was followed for a short distance by police before the vehicle was located stopped at Ormeau.

The alleged driver, a 28-year-old Coomera man, was located nearby and taken into custody.

He has since been charged with three counts of wilful damage of police property, two counts of evasion and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and driving unlicensed.

The man is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
