The Bulletin has approached City Hall and asked several questions, including why Mr Moran was no longer at work, and what were the reasons.
But a city spokesman said in a statement: “It is not appropriate to comment on confidential matters involving City employees.”
Mr Moran was contacted for comment but has not returned calls.
Mr Moran has been a strong advocate of the cruise ship terminal and the Mayor’s appointment on the Gold Coast Waterways Authority Board.
He has also played a key role as a strategist in the Mayor’s re-election campaign.
