FIX the congestion and the bottlenecks, and fix them now — that’s the message from the state’s peak motoring body.
The RACQ has called on all levels of government to stop mucking about and get on with fixing the roads Gold Coasters have identified as worst for congestion.
Its Red Spot Congestion Survey has revealed many driver headaches, with choke points on the Pacific Motorway, Southport Burleigh Road and, in the north, Foxwell Rd at Coomera making motorists see red.

RACQ spokeswoman Lucinda Ross said it was no surprise the Pacific Motorway was deemed the worst.
“Queenslanders are in the best position to identify problem spots and have helped us pinpoint the locations which continually cause frustration behind the wheel,” Ms Ross said.
“These red spots may be due to a set of traffic lights taking too long to change, not enough lanes, delays at a rail crossing, or something completely different.”
Research results would be provided to all levels of government to push the issue.
