MAYOR Tom Tate and wife Ruth have arrived back on the Gold Coast following Mrs Tate’s severe heart attack in Singapore.
Cr Tate and the Mayoress arrived back on the Gold Coast earlier this morning.
Mrs Tate will return to hospital on the Gold Coast to continue her recovery.
The mayoress has been recovering in a Singapore hospital following a severe heart attack minutes before she and Cr Tate were to board a plan to Europe.
The couple had been waiting in Singapore until Mrs Tate was declared fit to fly.
“There’s no place like home: We’re back safe and sound,” Cr Tate said on Facebook.
“I just thought I would let everyone know that Ruth and I have safely returned back to Australia this morning.”
He said Mrs Tate would be continuing her recovery on the Gold Coast.
“There is a long road ahead for us but I know that Ruth will now make a full recovery in the hands of world’s best medicos right here on the Gold Coast,” he said.
Cr Tate thanked Donna Gates and Gary Baildon for taking over while he had been caring for Mrs Tate.
“To all well wishes, Ruth and I have been humbled by your unending support, prayers and words of encouragement,” he said.
Cr Tate, who provided first aid to Mrs Tate until paramedics arrived, also posted a link to book in a first aid course.
