Mayor Tom Tate launches a council-wide look into parking conditions on the Gold Coast

MAYOR Tom Tate wants to hear what you have to say about parking on the Gold Coast in response to a growing number of complaints.

A COUNCIL wide look into Gold Coast parking conditions has been launched by Mayor Tom Tate.

In response to growing complaints on matter Cr Tate has announced a “citywide workshop on parking”, to discuss all Commonwealth Games zoning measures and fees.

While only councillors may attend, Mayor Tate says the discussion is an opportunity to put everything on the table.

LOCALS FURIOUS ABOUT PARKING LIMIT

“Let’s be clear, people have concerns about parking matters in their areas. Through the councillors, I want to hear first-hand what they are,’’ he said.

“We may end up leaving the various parking zones and times in place, or we may make some changes.

Cr Tate said the number of questions that have been put to him about parking by the public has spurred him to explore the matter further.

“Today’s announcement is about getting every Councillor in the room to hear their views,” Cr Tate said.

MAN FINED FOR PARKING ON UNSIGNED STREET

“I encourage every resident or business with an interest in parking matters across our city to get in touch with their divisional councillor over the next five days, and make their concerns known,” he said.

The workshop will be on Monday 18 June with agreed outcomes to be brought back to Council via the relevant committee.
