A POPULAR Gold Coast cafe precinct has become a parking nightmare today with both sides of the car park blocked off to motorists.
Customers in Nobby Beach have contacted the Bulletin complaining about the council intervention which stopped peak early morning trade in the precinct which is a favourite among businessmen.
“I had to drive around four times to get a park. There were four council blokes there and 200 metres of car park blocked off. It’s a joke,” a customer said.
A coffee shop owner who arrived about 11am after receiving calls from staff said the situation had improved.
“When staff arrived here this morning both sides were closed off. Now there is only one side. It’s still an issue. I guess the council has got to get the work done. We hope it is only for today. We are losing business,” the trader said.

Council had notified traders last week about the parking changes, and area councillor Pauline Young today after receiving a complaints from a customer confirmed the work had to be done.
“We are aware of the parking situation within the Nobby’s precinct. Our council officers are currently changing the parking sensors on the road,” Cr Young wrote.
The customer told Cr Young that he had witnessed the four officers “mainly standing around talking”.
“Someone needs to get out there and give them a rocket. It’s arrogant local government bullying and showing zero regards for retailers,” the customer said.
