More than $1.6 million will be spent revamping a popular northern Gold Coast park. It’s set to gain some incredible new features.

MORE than $1.6 million will be spent revamping a popular northern Gold Coast park.

The first trees will today be planted at Hope Island’s Sickle Park as part of the revamp, which will see a natural amphitheatre created.

Major works will begin next month, with the construction to take place in three stages over a six-month period.

It will be completed mid-year.

New features include numerous shelters, BBQ facilities and new trees.

The work will be done by Brisbane-based developer Keylin Group as part of the $4 million in infrastructure charges paid to council from the approval of its luxury villa development, Palladium.

Keylin director Louis Cheung said the park revamp had been in the works since 2016.
