GOLD Coast City Council has approved $100,000 be allocated to support a pre-summer marketing campaign in the wake of the tragic accident at Dreamworld last month.
Council approved the campaign to help the entire region’s tourism industry recover the downturn seen after the accident which saw four people lose their lives.
The state government will be matching the contribution dollar for dollar for the campaign.
The pre-summer campaign will include advertising on Brisbane and northern New South Wales television and radio in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and northern New South Wales and online content in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane.
Gold Coast Tourism members will also offer holidays and deals throughout the campaign.
Mayor Tom Tate raised the issue of offering the funding as a mayoral minute at council’s general meeting today.
The vote was passed unanimously.
