REGULATED parking and residential passes could be introduced into some of the Gold Coast’s most crowded suburban streets in a bid to relieve frustrated homeowners.
The Gold Coast City Council is undertaking a study on busy residential streets across the city which are often filled with parked cars..
Some of the streets which will be the focus on the study are near Griffith and Bond universities, Gold Coast University Hospital and major shopping centres including Pacific Fair.
Pacific Fair last week introduced paid parking facilities.
The study will consider ways of improving amenity in those streets, with measures such as strict two-hour parking limits for non-residential vehicles and passes for residential cars.
Marked bays could also be considered.
Council economic development boss Hermann Vorster said the community would also be consulted.
“When we try and address this problem there are going to be winners and losers so whatever we do will have to be through community consultation,” he said.
