MUDGEERABA councillor Glenn Tozer will front the Councillor Conduct Tribunal next week.
Cr Tozer will appear at a hearing in Brisbane on Tuesday morning over a complaint relating to a review of a concert at Helensvale’s NightQuarter that he wrote as a freelance writer in 2018.
He said he has been a freelance writer for Blank Magazine and does not get paid for articles.
“I am appearing at a scheduled hearing at that time,” Cr Tozer told the Bulletin. “My view is that the complaint lacks substance.
“The circumstances around it relate to this visit to NightQuarter for a concert by the Cat Empire for which I wrote a music review for Blank Magazine.”
The review was published on September 26, 2018.
The review described the concert as “something special” and praised the venue and the band.
“Harry Angus’ horn section brought a battle to stage not long after, with trumpets and trombones going head to head,” he wrote.
“Everyone loves the chance to sing as one, and Felix and Harry and their Empire gave every honorary Helensvillain the chance, closing the set and the encore with familiar tunes with those catchy Cat Empire hooks, easy to sing and laugh and enjoy.”
