Former councillor and prominent Gold Coast developer John “Jock” McIlwain has died age 89

FORMER Gold Coast councillor and prominent developer Jock McIlwain has died age 89.

FORMER councillor and prominent developer Jock McIlwain has died.

The Order of Australia medal recipient died peaceful on April 22 at the age of 89.

Mr McIlwain was born in Fiji in 1926 and was one of the city’s leading developers through the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.

He served two terms on the old Gold Coast City Council from 1966 to 1973.

Mr McIlwain is survived by his beloved with Beverly and children Robin, Linda and John.
