DETAILED plans for a state-of-the-art new playground out to rival the Broadwater Parklands have been released.
Planning for a new park at Country Paradise Parklands in Nerang is well underway following the release of detailed drawings of the proposed $1.3 million facility, featuring bridges, a sandy creek play area, picnic space and slides.
The nature based playground plans were first announced in January following a push from the Committee of Nerang Country Paradise Association.
Inspired by the site’s elements of agriculture, nature and the Australian bush the fully accessible adventure playground will include log stacks, tower climbs, stumps, jumping stones and rope tunnels.
A rope challenge will also allow children to climb to the treetop lookouts, while remaining accessible for those with limited ability.
A creek play area is intended to wind through the site with interactive elements such as foot pumps, puddles and sprays of mist.

The park was previously planned for Bischof Park but was moved to the Country Paradise Parklands area following community feedback.
“The key factor was the genuine desire to preserve and enhance the unique character of Country Paradise while introducing a fabulous new facility that will attract many new visitors to the park,” Division 5 councillor Peter Young said.
“We are constrained by available space, budget, environmental aspects, and ongoing costs. We are not going to please everyone. I am quite excited with how things are shaping up.
“Country Paradise has a big focus on natural elements so we don’t want to plant something plastic and alien in the park.”

Cr Young said while he expects building to begin by the end of this year the amount of funding is dependent on the council budget.
“During the 2019 Budget process, commencing May, I will be keenly seeking to ensure our project stays alive and gets strong support, with the objective to commence construction in the 2019-20 financial year,” he said.
Country Paradise association Secretary Martin Collis said the area should eventually become a space that rivals the Broadwater Parklands.
“We wanted to create an all abilities playground, water park where families can come and spent the day,” he said.
“Our plan is to avoid the plastic playgrounds and keep within the theme of the area.
“Getting something on the western side of the Highway in the Nerang area is so important.”
Community consultation is expected to follow after budget approval.
