Visitors to Surf Parade will be able to get their first half-hour of metered parking free as part of a new trial.

Councillor for the area Paul Taylor said the plan had been in the works for some time.
“It has been a problem with people parking there all day and we hope this will break it up a bit,” he said.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a big win for drivers but just that Council is trying to accommodate them wherever possible, if they thought it was something decent to look at we certainly will.”
The parking changes in Broadbeach will be implemented from 4 February 2019. These changes will include:
● Surf Parade – 30 minute free parking (when validated at the parking meter)
● Old Burleigh Road – reduction in the parking tariff to $1.50 per hour
● Queensland Avenue (east) – reduction in the parking tariff to $1.50 per hour.
