Plans to construct the tallest tower yet seen in Broadbeach have moved a step closer after Council officers recommended approval. Now there’s just one more major hurdle to be cleared.

COUNCIL officers have recommended approval of Broadbeach’s tallest tower.
Developer Broadbeach Joint Venture filed the application for the $100 million luxury tower with council in May last year.

Council’s planning committee today will consider the planned development for the 54-storey Class Broadbeach on a 756sq m site on the corner of Charles Ave and Old Burleigh Road
The existing “flat” site is home to seven units.
The officer’s recommendation in a report is “approval”.

The proposed tower will have 46 “ultra high-end” units, providing for 138 bedrooms.
Officers in their report said the proposed scale of the development is “considered to be consistent with the high density built forms” in the area.

“It is important to acknowledge that the subject site is located within the primary focus area of light rail,” the officers in their report wrote.
The site has a “no building height” and the tower would fit along the coastal spine and the city’s tallest buildings, officers said.
The development would cover 79 per cent of the site and include a food and drink outlet on the ground level.
Developers have previously indicated their target was “the high-end market” looking for “375sq m units in the heart of Broadbeach”.
