THE Gold coast salon at the centre of Queensland’s latest virus scare has decided to close, as a precaution.
Hair and Beauty Plus at Australia Fair will be closed for two weeks despite being “cleared by Queensland Health”.
The business made the announcement via their Facebook page last night.
It comes after a staff member who recently returned from an overseas trip was confirmed to have the COVID-19 virus.
“We have decided to close out business for the next 14 days due to the recent case of Coronavirus,” the post on the business’s page reads.
“Despite being cleared by Queensland Health, we have made this decision in the best interest of our clients, staff and the community.
“Our thought are with our colleague and her family at this time.”
Last week, authorities called for up to 40 people who had visited the salon on Thursday, February 27, to come forward.

Health Minister Steven Miles said Queensland Health would contact clients who had appointments at the Hair Plus salon on Thursday 27 February and may have been in close contact with the woman.
“We are asking anyone who attended Hair Plus at Australia Fair from 11am onwards on Thursday 27 February to go to the Gold Coast University Hospital,” he said.
“If you went to Australia Fair but did not go to that particular hair salon on Thursday, there is no need for concern, but if you would like any advice please ring 13 HEALTH.”
The 63-year-old beautician had recently returned from Iran and remains in hospital isolation.
As of Monday afternoon, no one else who work at the salon was showing symptoms of COVID-19.
