Clutch Racing: 24-hour F1 racing bar planned site near Gold Coast’s Coomera Westfield precinct
The Gold Coast's entertainment scene is revving up with plans for a round-the-clock Formula 1-style racing venue among several major attractions headed for the northern corridor.
A sim-racing bar and restaurant is among a range of new attractions planned for the northern Gold Coast.
Clutch Racing has lodged plans with Gold Coast City Council to build a venue on a 2301sq m site on Coomera’s Foxwell Road, directly across the road from Westfield.
The operators are asking the council to allow them to operate uninterrupted 24 hours a day.
According to the plans, it would operate as a bar and restaurant while having at least six racing simulators which could be used for both international competition events, as well as hired out for parties and other events.
Imagery suggests it will have Formula 1 and 24 Hours of Le Mans theming.
Clutch is hoping to open the venue by the end of August 2026.
“We’re excited to announce that our new racing venue will be launching in 2026,” a statement on the company’s website reads.
“Stay tuned for a unique space designed for unforgettable events and experiences (with) construction of the purpose-built facility almost underway.
“Step into the driver’s seat and feel the adrenaline as you race on world-class simulators.
“(It’s) perfect for beginners and pros alike, it’s time to test your skills and have a blast.”
Similar venues already exist around the country.
It comes as the council also assesses other indoor recreation venues further north in Pimpama.
The latest is the Flipout Adventure Park which is earmarked for a 1459sq m tenancy in the Home Focus Centre Pimpama development.
It will be operated as an indoor trampoline park offering “air bags, parkour arenas, running walls and more”.
It will be the franchise’s third Queensland location and the first on the Gold Coast.
It is the second such new business aimed at children in the under-construction complex.
The Bulletin last week revealed developer Baycrown had lodged plans with Council to build Chipmunks Playground and Cafe at the centre.
The Nexus Drive indoor recreation centre would fill an 800sq m space and become the second to operate on the Gold Coast, with an initial business already open at Robina.
