Whether it’s supporting teachers in the classroom or helping students understand their lessons, teacher aidess are a vital part of any learning environment.

When the Cairns Post put out the call to find the region’s best, we were inundated with nominations from grateful parents.

Loraine McCarthy from Trinity Anglican School, White Rock was described as a “classroom angel” by a fellow educator.

“Lorraine has been my angel in the classroom for many years,” she said.

“She is amazing with the children, fun to work with and always goes above and beyond. “Super organised and seems to know exactly what I am thinking so always stays one step ahead. A real diamond at TAS White Rock.”

Another highly nominated teacher aide was Wendy McNab from Whitfield State School.

“Wendy at Whitfield State School is one of the most dedicated, passionate and caring teacher aides I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with,” said a fellow educator.

“She absolutely deserves this recognition.”
